MUSKEGON COUNTY

Johnson School (1894-1946)
LOCATION:  17460 Sherman Blvd, Casnovia in Section 35, Casnovia Township
School is on the north side of Sherman Blvd between Newaygo Road and Peters Road
Current Use: Museum

While driving around Muskegon County, we were unable to locate the following schools:
- Maple Island School in Cedar Creek Township (burned down Nov. 13, 2009)

  1. I can provide information on Carl School in Ada Township. Also, there is an issue brewing about how the town of Ada might use the vacated building. One possible outcome is to use it as a public restroom. How can we gather some support to kill this idea?
    Robert Tusch, now of San Marcos. Incidentally, my brother and I just published the history of this one room school. Its called THE HISTORY OF CARL SCHOOL.

    1. Idea killed. It is now a visitor center, general store and coffee shop.

  2. Maple Ridge school in Muskegon on Buys Rd. Used as a classroom. Well preserved.
