Current Use: Museum - In 1979, it was moved from its original location (across the street where the Fire Hall is now located) to the property adjacent to the township hall. It is a Michigan Registered Historic Site. The school is owned and operated by Greenbush Historical Society.

Alcona Historic Historical Society has posted a sign indicating the school was built in 1908 and moved to this second location in 1930. The original location was about ¾ mile north of M-72 on

I grew up less than a mile from the Cedardale school site. I never saw the school but remember my dad telling us about it. Thanks for the site. I think I'll be driving around to see some of these historic sites.
ReplyDeleteMy Grandma used to go to an old school on the corner of Dean and Poorfarm road in Alcona. The building is gone now, but I have a good photo of her and her dog in front of it!
