Finally, the August 15, 1968 article reported seven schools being used for elementary grades.  Based on this information, I have concluded the estimated closing dates for these schools (indicated by * in the photos/text above) to be after the 1966/67 school year and before the 1969/70 school year.

  3. Watertown Center School is on the corner (now a residence) not the building pictured. Yes, that is the North Eagle School. I know the current owner. McKim is not gone (my error in a book I wrote).

    1. I attended Price School through June 1968 (it did not burn in the 1950's as indicated in the Michigan One Room Schoolhouse Association website). Also the last teacher at Price School (from Sept 1965-June 1968) was Stephanie Staples (she was my 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teacher). I heard you were working on a possible update to your book and thought you might be interested in this information.

  5. Hi, I really like your website! Beautifully done. I own Simmons School (northwest corner of Airport and Chadwick). I spent the last 8 years renovating the interior, preserving as much of the original features as possible. I did some research and have a few photos from approximately 1910 and 1951. I also have some histories, one written by a member of the Simmons family. Thank you for mentioning the article from the Clinton County News regarding the auction in 1968. I am looking for an article regarding when the school was converted to a residence in the 1980s.

  9. There was a Page School in Duplain Township, Clinton County, MI.
You have it listed as being up for sale in an article Nov. 3, 1966 with a question of if it should be one of the Sage Schools as a misprint but it was Page not Sage.
